Welcome to the Nuke Free Zone.
This multi-author weblog has been running nearly continuously since August of 2003. It takes its name from a humorous nickname for Berkeley, California, where katster, the founder of this blog, was a student at the University of California, Berkeley. Since she wasn’t sure she could keep a blog up, she asked a few friends to help contribute, and the results are the blog you’re currently reading. We started out on Movable Type 2.6, and kept it running for three years, but a number of factors (mostly spam and an inability to continue up the MT upgrade path), we have recently switched to Wordpress.
Things are usually pretty free-wheeling around here, and we love comments, unless you’re a spambot. So even if you’re a foaming-at-the-mouth right-wing Bush-lover who thinks we all need Jesus in our lives to be happy and fullfilled, c’mon in, but be forewarned, we’re a bunch of (gasp) liberals and will probably engage you in debate. If you’re like George Clooney, and don’t understand how ‘liberal’ came to be as dirty a word as ‘nazi’, you’ll probably fit in fine. And if you’re a moderate, that’s all cool too. Get an account and join in. Just be respectful, and it’ll all work out.
