
I was reading CalPundit's comment boards and came across this litte gem some guy named Richard posted:
" The leading cause of poverty is government."
Ummm. Okay. Hell, I'll even paste in the paragraph this was stated in.
"He says this is not a middle class tax cut. If you talk to middle class wage earners, you will see that they are deeply appreciative of this tax cut; it has made a difference for them. The leading cause of poverty is government. This is why they are getting so much traction. The Democrat taxes have made it very hard on people; the relief is appreciated by working stiffs."
It's times like this when I wonder what looking glass I've stepped through so that any of this is true. It's the same cognitive dissonance that a headline in the National Post (which is prolly Canada's most conservative newspaper) gave me the summer I was in Halifax: "Globalisation cures poverty"
Yeah. I mean, is it really that bad? Am I seeing things wrong? Or have I just stepped through the looking glass?
