Here's the full report from the Union of Concerned Scientists I mentioned last night. It's a PDF, and weighs in at about forty-five pages, but it also appears to be worth reading. It's nice to see some shots at the administration's stance on technology which are both scathing and long overdue.
More later, on the off chance that I survive the storm that's laying waste to Nova Scotia right now. here's an example of the kinda snowfall we're getting in this thing; that was taken several hours ago, and we're about halfway through this storm.

Just FYI, Calpundit thread on the topic. He invokes Lysenko, and not unjustly.
This qualifies as a truly mindbending statement.
Posted by: the Fourth Man at February 19, 2004 02:12 PMAugh. Yes, yes that does qualify as such. I hadn't thought of Lysenko at all, either. Granted, I'm still reading the report proper.
It's surprising to see that much disdain for intellectuals on Calpundit, though. That guy's far from alone in his babbling.
Posted by: Zibblsnrt at February 19, 2004 02:53 PMIf I said I was surprised to see that, it'd be a black, black lie. Something about an Orange County liberal draws 'em like buzzards.

Granted, I do reserve the right to delete comments that get too insulting. :)
