The Southern Conservative Culture Is A Culture of Treason
Published by Warrior Tang February 23rd, 2005 in US PoliticsFrankly, it doesn’t surprise me that the guy they just caught planning to kill the President turns out to have come from Houston. The way conservatives “raise” kids out in Texas, what’s surprising is that we haven’t seen more terrorists come from there. And it’s no shock at all that he was named Valedictorian of a Virginia high school, since being an al-Qaeda assassin is just the sort of behaviour that conservatives would reward down in the South.
Of course I don’t believe any of that nonsense I just spouted, but if they can say it about Marin, then surely the same applies for Ahmed Omar Abu Ali.
(BTW, sorry Will for ragging on your state)
[Edit 02/24 5:53 by Tang: fixing factual errors. I didn’t expect my first big screwup to be on crap like this.]
From the link you posted:
“Abu Ali was born in Houston and moved to Falls Church, a Washington suburb. He was valedictorian of the Islamic Saudi Academy in nearby Alexandria, Va.”
I see the point you were making and I did read your disclaimer so I suppose your post is no sillier than Andrew Sullivan’s posts about JWL but your facts are wrong. I suppose that doesn’t matter, eh?
Thanks for the correction. I didn’t read the article all the way through and based this off something I’d read earlier in the day that had less information. The fact that matters most is that the premise of the argument is B.S. I could just as easily condemn “Southern culture” and it would still be wrong.
