In the wake of reports that Bush is planning to launch an unprovoked nuclear strike on Iran, Billmon has a lengthy post on the intriguing question: What if the US nuked Iran and nobody cared?

…because everybody needs a little touch of His Noodly Appendage now and then. Even those wacky creationists.

It’s just yet another link to a NYTimes article, but it’s important that this time, somehow, we manage to keep the nation’s collective head on straight. This one’s basically saying that the experts are in general agreement that Iran is 5 to 10 years away from a successful attempt to make a bomb, and that’s […]

I attended the monthly meeting of the local Democratic Party tonight, as I do regularly.  An interesting question came up, which has instructional bearing on national politics even though it’s entirely local.
One of our area chairs took the opportunity during his scheduled report to talk about an issue in his neighborhood.  A landfill is in […]

…or, “A Reminder that the Government is, After All, Lots of Different People, Not a Hive-Mind.”
The State Department, which was right all along about what was going to happen after the war, but no, nobody sodding listened to them, except the million or so war protesters, the Democrats, the Iraqis, and most of the Western […]

Does being pro-life help Dems? A recent poll of the 2006 Pennsylvania Senatorial race between Casey and Santorum suggests not.

I caught a bit of the Daily Show last night in which Jon Stewart was interviewing John McCain, who is looking more and more like the Republican candidate for President in 2008. Stewart went on the attack and McCain stood up for himself fabulously.
